First Day Back

Well, today I went back to school. It was actually really neat not being the new one and having kids say Hi, and even hugging me! Madness!

I'm now totally relaxed about my junior subjects but am having a minor freak out over my senior Chem. I'll be teaching with my HOD and the other senior science teacher, so I feel I have a lot to learn. Plus how could I possible teach my kids as well as they'll teach theirs?

Also, today I took out $5000 from the bank. That is a whole lot of money! They gave it to me in $50s! I then carefully drove it home and took it to the lawyers, where I handed it over as the security deposit on my house. Now Muggle and I have completely fulfilled our side of the bargain to become unconditional. It is up to the vendor to fulfill her side.

We were supposed to becoming completely unconditional today, but, when the building inspector went over and inspected it, she freaked out about all the stuff he said wasn't perfect about it. I mean this house is over 50 years old. It isn't in perfect condition. She thought we weren't going to buy it so she didn't do the work that she said she would in out contract, namely sealing a bunch of stuff in the bathroom and fixing a window. This means we are delaying the stuff for another day. *sigh*. Muggle and I are going over tonight to check that she has done the stuff now, and also to adjust the contract to add the stuff she isn't going to be able to finish for a couple of weeks. It's no big deal really as we aren't actually getting it until mid-March.

There was something kind of weird that happened when I went to the lawyer's. He said that since we were, in affect, now property owners, we should be thinking about our wills! I said I'd just make it out to our parents. He said, what about if you have kids? I said, well then I'll change it, but that isn't happening soon. Anywho, it's weirded me out.

Do you have a will? Have you thought about it? If so, who gets what? If not, when will you and what will you put in it?

I don't want anything to change.

There are several things that I seem to be blocking out due to the horror.

1) I have to move our of my flat next weekend.
2) I have to start back at work next week.
3) I have to sign my life aw-... go unconditional on buying a house with my sister on Monday.
4) I have to see a dentist.
5) I have to get some new pants for school.
6) I have to move in with my parents for 6 weeks.
7) I have to change my sheets and launder the other ones
8) I have to get a haircut
9)I have to put some money onto my cell phone
10) I have to get the whole broken on-off button on my cell phone seen to or else buy a new phone- boo!
11) I have to put some petrol in my car.
12) I have to pay off my credit card.
13) I have to change the automatic deposit paying for rent.

Thirteen seems like an appropriate number of things. I am seriously feeling weird about the whole "moving out of cool flat, buying a house with my sister, starting my second year of teaching, currently being skint due to too much holidaying" - thing. Argh.. I'm happy where I am right now, being on holiday, having cool flatmates, having nice boyfriend. Could we please freeze today before I have to go back to "real life" of job and soon to be humongous debt?

My whole big OE plan is going to have to go on hold for a good year more because I won't be able to go swanning off overseas when I have to make mortgage payments. On the plus side... nothing... oh yeah, I'll have half a house, eventually, when we pay off our lender. Hurrah.

Must go motivate myself somehow.... chocolate custard is always good ;)

Because I feel I should say something more.

KapCon 14 was my most favourite KapCon so far.. I think, at least in the last year anyway ;). I played in some really awesome games and want to acknowledge some of the GMs

NP (I got confused earlier and said LP) for running an AWESOME Samurai Pizza Cats game. It had props, theme music, pictures, silly finishing moves and fabulous final poses, oh yeah, the other players were ok too ;)

C (the adventurer) for running a great game called The Borders. I had heaps of fun being confused and then pretending to be confused and finally escaping to be a ghost in the shell!

Jenni, should I even bother saying anything,? She won an award for it! Had a great time and a great bunch . It was scary how JP WAS Mr Dar... Knight. Big props to JK & amphigori for running off together. I also loved the description of a "Bile coloured" dress, so yay to Star too.

The LARP had many GMs so good work them, nevertheless Debz and Matt were missed. I had a fun time playing an over-proud enslaved Amazon Queen. It was sooo great having a team of slavers that I knew so that I could Roleplay to the limit and they would know that I wasn't actually a complete brooding bitch. Pimpster T-mac and Luscious Lucy both had crazy appropriate accents and attitudes not to mention the costumes. Amazing. Magic Stick was a very loyal side-kick who still tried to be nice to me after many rebuffs. He was very attentive and I only escaped his watchful eye at the very end thanks to both my Amazon troupe and the Mystic Monks. I loved the green airbrushed "eye" make-up. It made us Amazons immediately identifiable as a group, we were perhaps one of the most obvious factions.. after the Monks anyway. The Amazons were a great bunch of women and all role played awesomely. I had probably the most fun at this LARP out of ANY LARP I have EVER played. I know that this is thanks to the GMs but also especially to the other people I interacted with. Thanks so much. You guys rock!

PS I'm sure I would only have had more fun if Matt and Debz were there and fancy free. I hope that next year they will be,

Love

Too much stuff so only summaries

Well, I got my full driver's licence finally and so we were able to borrow the Folly (aka the van that Mum bought that Dad didn't want) for our road trip. I was shaking with relief when he told me I had passed the test.

I was the only one who had a full and since I haven't had it long enough the restricted person couldn't drive so I drove from Wellington to Cape Reinga.

Day 1: got licence, Organised D.vice party, picked up HP and Lee (late sorry) and we started the trip with a short drive to Hokio. Met up with Sass, Sekhmut, Jenni and Zeph there. I slept in my new Christmas tent. Had Pizza for Dinner.

Day 2: Stayed in Hokio, did not go swimming (others did) went into town for supplies and people bought much knitting goods, I also got a boob tube in an attempt to get rid of strap lines. Had Roast Beef for Dinner.

Day 3: Drove from Hokio to Taupo (people in Folly are now Lee, HP, Sass and of couse me). Stayed with Beau's lovely family there and did not have to stay in tents! Swam in Lake. Minor family scandals occured which we witnessed. Had BBQ with yummy Chorizo sausages for Dinner.

Day 4. Massive day of driving. Drove from Taupo to Matakohe. Stopped and had lunch on the way at the Hamilton Gardens. Stayed at lovely Bed and Breakfast. Everyone should go there. $50 each a night but they also give you dinner and a cooked breakfast. The toilet there was cool and the water you used to wash your hands was recycled into the cistern. Edsel and June were the 70+y.o. hosts and Edsel's family had always lived in the area. He took us on a tour of the area after dinner. Sooo nice! They live an easy walk from the Kauri Museum. Had Chicken Casserole for Dinner (Peach flan for dessert).

Day 5 aka the Day of Kauri. Had scrambled eggs and bacon on toast at best B&B ever. Then went and spent over an hour at the Kauri Museum. $12 is pretty expensive but how often do I go there? Museum shop had many beautiful and unaffordable things, but I did by a brooch that June had made (her and Edsel also volunteer at the Museum) out of the Female and Male Kauri cones. Coveted Gum jewellery that I could not afford. Drove north and had lunch at Kai Iwi lakes, HP gave us mini tiki tour of Kumara Country and we bought some Kumara. Drove north but stopped at a small shop that also had Kauri goods. Very affordable. Each of us bought a bowl and Lee bought me a wonderful present for being driver, a beautifully shaped and coloured piece of Kauri Gum. Drove North and stopped to see Tane Mahuta. Drove North and did not know about ferry so took long route along the coast. Stayed at Jonno's parents house. Swam in sea. Had KFC for Dinner.

Day 6. The day we went up and came back down again. Drove to Cape Reinga and nearly ran out of petrol at the top. Had lunch and took photo's and amazed at awesome views. Drove south to Bay of Islands. Stopped on way to visit family friends of mine, admired their puppy. Reached Bay of Islands and stayed with Sass's Step-G. Long day of driving. Had Butter Chicken for dinner.

Day 7. Did not drive anywhere. Swam and lounged and knitted. Had Nacho's for Lunch and Roast Chicken for dinner.

Day 8. Had Pancakes with bacon and banana and maple syrup for Brunch. Did not swim as evil Jelly fish! Did drive to Russell in order to make calls on Cellphones. Also bought some necessities and had ice creams. Had Lasagne for dinner.

Day 9. Sadly Left Bay of Islands. Soo beautiful and restful there. Drove to Hamilton. On the way we stopped and Candyland. So much Candy! Stayed with HPs brother and his family of blondes. Many cute children many stories were read. Had BBQ for dinner.

Day 10. Drove via Rotorua to Taupo. Had berries from the Olde Berry Farm. I ate a whole punnet of raspberries. Walked around and smelt in Rotorua. On way into Taupo drove and looked at Huka Falls. Got to Beau's family's place. Swam in the lake. Had BBQ steak and chicken Kebabs for dinner.

Day 11. Packed up and drove back to Wellington and loved ones. On same day after dropping everyone off, took Folly to get WOF, looked at house and put bid on it. Bid was accepted. Amazing. Also got to see my Beau again. Love him.

Since then have been sorting house stuff, hosted D.Vice party, also have attended Kapcon. Had fun and played games. Being surly Amazon slave and escaping was great. Jenni and Svend both won GM prizes. So good. Am very tired. I'll be walking the Orogogorongo's tomorrow if anyone is interested.

Destruction of Drunken Knitting and other Stories

So, on New Years Eve Beau, Austrian and I hopped into Kimchi (my car) and headed to Featherston. This was after HP and entourage arrived (early) so we could sorta convoy. Except we didn't ended up losing each other pretty much straight away, BUT, met up in Featherston at the 4 square. Which meant I could handily follow them to Poodle and Wool's place. Sehkmut and her J were already there (along with P and W of course).

We played lawn cricket and got all hot and disgusting (altho I didn't get sunburnt plus I LOVE my new sunglasses, a present from me, to me). Then we hopped in cars and went swimming and got all cold and Beau reckons he finally woke up properly then (he'd stayed up 'til 5am playing GTA:SA). The cold made us desire hot food so we got dinner, fish and chips, which we ate on the lawn. The fish and chip place wasn't really prepared for so many of us and we had to wait about 25 minutes to get our orders, once they got around to getting them off us anyway.

Jenni and Lee turned up that evening and games commenced, both board, card and drinking. There seemed a minor rivalry between HP and Wool. We palled of the drinking game and some people played a card game while others played Charades and i also did some knitting. It was perfectly good knitting too! Midnight came and there was little fuss over it and after another hour everyone headed to their respective beds. Not far for Beau, Austrian and I as we had been relegated Lounge.

Morning came and breakfast was had and eventually my party had to pack to go to Taupo. The others headed off for a day trip to Greytown. Anyhoo Beau and I managed to forget many things in the packing but nevermind. Got to Taupo in time for a yummy dinner with much of Beau's family and three types of meat! I made custard in the microwave. Svend and Muggle and her new Boy had arrived just before us from wellington leading to even greater fun.

We all packed into our beds somehow although there was a bit of excitement when at midnight Beau's Bro and Sis-in-law showed up unexepextedly on their way to Hamilton. Her Grandpa was not well and they had finally gotten two days off work to go and see him. I think Beau's Grandma was a bit worried and put out that she couldn't give them a proper bed but they were happy just to be able to have somewhere to lie down.

Next couple of days in Taupo pretty much all blurred, with lake swimming and hot pools and seeing T and the Patch for lunch one day. We all got sunburnt and Svend and Austrian did the Tongariro Crossing! We had BBQ and left overs and I managed to make a yummy potato salad. I ate too much in total.

I left on the morning of the 4th with Muggle and her Boy and Beau in the car. Austrian went back with Svend slightly later than us. We wanted to go together as we had plans to stop and we did, at Bulls, Foxton, Waiterere (altho it turned out noone was there) and Lindale. We discussed contacting Matt and Debz but were too tired, which is good 'cause they weren't home then anyway!

Anyway got back and have since done some stuff, got new lights for my car, saw baby goldfish at my parent's place, returned keys from house sitting, done dishes at flat, visited mum's shop, went to Dvice and a cool asian shop, got housebuying stuff started, got petrol in car, talked to ppl about buying a house and today looked at houses online with Muggle. Awesome.

Oh yeah, I forgot to say that when I got to Taupo and got out my knitting the needle had come out from it and I didn't know how to fix it so I undid the over half a ball that I had done and restarted. Madness!

Christmas past and Presents

Um, well I went up to Waiterere with the whanau for christmas. Cousin's had returned from OEs with boyfriends and "english" phrases.

I always find it a bit uncomfortable hanging out with a large group of extended family but I have discovered that knitting is awesome. it gives you an excuse to sit out in the open (getting a minor sunburn as it turns out) on your own, but it allows you to chat if people wander over and it is a conversation started, especially with the fluffy blue wool I was using. It was like I was knitting Muppet Fur.

Dad and uncle were mostly reading the whole time. Auntie was doing a cross-stitch, Mum seemed to sleep in a bit. Keepie got sick with heyfever combined with a cold and Camster and Muggle closed ranks on me. they set up a tent for themselves and hung out with each other.

Cousins as a whole were cool but chatting smacks of effort.

Dad gave me a tent which was awesome and will be much appreciated on road trip, if only to try out.

Beau got me Lonely Planet's guide to NZ which is cool. He also got me 3 lush massage bars. He admitted he got a bit carried away there. I was the coolest girlfriend and bought him GTA:SA on PS2, and then hogged it for a day.

Muggle and Camster each gave me and bunch of stuff and Keepie gave me the cheat book for GTA:SA. Awesome and already much used.

mum had already given gifts from thailand early in the year.

Aunt and Uncle gave lush products and Aunt mourned the fact that while she gives it a lot she seldom recieves.

We gave them Cranium and it was MUCH played. Funniest Cranium moment was Mum acting out "quick sand" and Aunt having to guess. Awesome.

On the 27th attended a "Christmas" dinner with Beau's extended family in Foxton. Recieved awesome platter from his bro and sis-in-law. Little sis gave me glass coaster, pretty, and Beau's Joyous mother/ Father Christmas, gave me a beautiful metal ... container/bowl. I need kitchen space for my things.

Back in Wellington that night and spent it at house-sitting. Next two days did vacuuming and clothes washing and general tidying of place.

It was nice to have somewhere where we were really alone with each other... except for the yowly cat that is.

In the meantime my flat had an Austrian Backpacker! Lovely girl and we dragged her along for New Years, which I am too slack to write about now.

Maybe later..

update over, neopets time!
