Religious Intolerance: Not Just For Monotheists Anymore

I see the the Nepalese Hindu majority are carrying out attacks against the Nepalese Muslim minority (3%) in revenge for the 12 Nepalese murdered in Iraq. Mosques and more than 100 Muslim-owned business and homes were burned and looted.

I'm sure it improved the situation no end.

My parents are coming down to Christchurch on Monday. Dad's on business so Mum is coming along. I'm not too sure how long they're down for, but I'm sure it will be long enough.

... and then some.

Not much else to report, really. *tapdances off stage*

I'm kind of freaked out by the prospect... trying to balance anger with politeness and how to get my view across without seeming irrational or unreasonable. Eeep!

I have by a twist of fate found myself in Kathmandu at the moment. Personally I feel safe enough, but there is a lot of curfews and disruption. In the tourist area it is fairly quiet, although there is one looted shop and plenty of burnt-out tyres.
I was not aware of the religious backlash. People always look for someone to blame.
