The development of taste?

The sprat being now 6 months old, I am tasked with giving him iron in the diet. Yup, he's learning to eat meat. He don't like it, and we are diluting it with the stuff he does like, kumara and pumpkin and carrot. Not apple. There has been a lot of face pulling, and coughing as if he is choking to death (he's also learning about having food that is not 100% slush). It goes in, but you know he's not very impressed with our culinary skills...

So this morning I thought I would give him something he would like, no fighting and fun for both. So I cracked open a tin of fruit of a variety he has eaten before. And got absolute resistance to pears. Pursed lips, shaking head, looking anywhere but where the spoon would be, pushing/spitting the food straight back out. It was hilarious, and now I know.

My baby likes APPLES, he does not like pears. DID YOU GET THAT MUM??? I'D RATHER EAT MEAT!

Lol maybe it was revenge for him having to suffer through the earlier experiments with meat? (right mum, I'll show you to try and expand my horizons!)
