squee for summer!

What a difference some sunshine can make! I slept in this morning, because I could. Actually I slept in a bit too much, and woke up a bit groggy. I finished reading Fables: Wolves (Thank you Liz!) and then got down to surfing the net. Then I wrote some of my book, kind of. It was hard going, but I got some of it out and while putting the washing out I decided a run was what I needed to kick-start my brain.

Brilliant. Running in the sunshine in the warmness and wearing my short shorts so I can kid myself that I have Long Runner’s Legs was awesome. I took my mini MP3 player to keep me inspired and let’s just say “Bad Day” by REM is the perfect running song for me.

I did a short route, and had to stop a few times to breathe, but I ran more than I thought I would and came home feeling psyched. I had a shower and went to the scrapbooking shop to stock up on album pages and came home, ate a healthy lunch of fresh beans, peas, carrots and smoked havarti on rice crackers and wrote nearly a thousand words. More than the actual writing, I figured out a couple of things about the way the story will go. I have my own spin on the classic hero quest and I am feeling good about it.

Plus, eating fresh green things for lunch has made me ridiculously happy.

I was writing so much, I figured I’d take the car to work and give myself some extra time. Bad choice, since they’re doing roadworks in Ngaio and I got caught up in a wait at the roundabout about 200 metres from work.

I’ll take the train next time.

PoF: omg summer! Singlet! Singlet and short pants!
CO: omg summer!
