Carols by Candlelight was completely awesome. Not just because I ended up with a minor posse, not just because I got to sing carols like a crazy shrieking lady, not just because there were a bunch of teenage boys sitting behind us and making funny jokes, oh no. Because there were bananas in pyjamas that went on a flying fox down from one of the corporate boxes to behind the stage!
Flying Foxing Bananas in Pyjamas is the weirdest thing, but so cool.
Then Sylvester and Tweety did it, and then Shrek and Donkey(!) and then Santa. Santa had also done a flyover in the Rescure helicopter. Then he flying foxed down and then he sang a variation on "Blue Suede Shoes" ...it was a little dodgy. "Help me, put on my big red suit" I mean, the lyrics weren't *that* dodgy (except the bit that went "I've got what you want right here in my sack") but the whole implication that Santa is naked and needs help to get dressed isn't exactly wholesome to me.
Also there were fireworks. Best. Carols by Candlelight. Ever.
Now, if only I could convince more people to come next year. Would drinks beforehand entice any more people along? A lot of people go to it, but you only really get affected by the crowds as you leave, and then everyone is going the same way (mostly) and anyway, we could wait on the seats until it's mostly disappated. Sass, Star and I sat in the bleachers? Stadium part? Seated area? and it was cool. Not only were we sheltered from the wind, but we had all-show entertainment from the kids going crazy hyper on the grass at the back of the crowd. So much running and chasing and trying to kill each other. Hilarious.
Also yesterday we had Yum Char with Lee's parents and that was rilly rilly good. We had coconut jelly but no fried chicken wings, so it seems I can never have everything I want from Yum Char. I always get Bbq pork buns and coconut buns though so that's great.
Then I had Buffy game which was fun fun, I love that group of roleplayers. We have a good....synergy. Heh.
On Friday night watched the Prince and Me which was thoroughly predictable and had the upsetting premise assumption that a woman can have a husband OR a career. Obviously this is somewhat the case for the main character who would have to be the Queen of Denmark, but they set it up with all her friends from 'back home' being married and thus having given up on their dreams. *shudders*.
On the up side, it had some really cute bits and a butterfly that flew around the whole world.
New York Minute was also predictable and made no sense. Mary-Kate and Ashley got naked quite frequently to draw in the male viewers, but since it bombed in the box office that obviously didn't work. It had a lot of laughs for Sass and I though, so not a complete waste of time.
Frank is now a member of the Mary-Kate and Ashley club by the way, and only the third male to join!
