An entry on socks

The next person to comment on my blog will be the 1111th person. It's like eleventy-first but longer.

I was thinking about long socks. I lurve long socks. Stripey long socks to be precise. More to the point I was getting annoyed at the way that my socks can stretch to over my knees but then inevitably slip down and gather behind my knees and itch, leaving my kneecaps exposed and chilly.

It's a big problem. What I need in fact is stocking length socks. Socks that go all the way to mid-thigh. I can't buy those. I just sit/stand and dream.

My asian long socks are better designed than the ones I buy from Kirk's. The asian ones seem to use a superior elastic that keeps the socks where they're meant to be but don't cut into my leg circulation like the kirks ones. When I remove my kirks socks after a day's wear I can clearly see where the socks ende because they cut in so much I have a purple leg with sock-cuff texture. Like pillow-crease-face Extreme.

My best socks at the moment are the purple stripey knee socks my sister got me in Korea. They are very snug and comfy and are a different purple inside. If only they were thigh length.

Lee said why don't I just wear stockings? I bet you're thinking it too. Well, I'll tell you why. Stockings aren't as thick and warm. They're just not. Plus they get ladders in 'em and they are delicate and annoying to wash. On top of all that you can't get them in a wide range of coloured stripes. I need my stripes.

My stripey socks are like a mood indicator. Here's a quick guide:

Red and white: I feel quirky and silly and I want to look like the cat in the hat or Jemima from Playschool.

Black and White: I feel sophisticated. Maybe a bit Gothy, cool.

Rainbow: I feel cheerful and perky.

Pink and black: I feel gothy and cute, cheerful but not *rainbow* cheerful.

Purple and purple Korea socks: I love my new socks!

Black and Red: I am not a Canterbury rugby fan, so shut up about it.

Red and White with a blue panel with white stars in it at the top: I need long socks but I don't want to advertise America so I'll wear these under pants. In short: I want to feel warmer.

White, pink and blue panels with a pink glitter stripe: I am feeling nostalgic so I'm wearing these, even though they are getting a bit flufy and ratty.
