Help Jenni Kick!

Ok, so I'm cheating a little here.
Sorry Hix! This brain blank seems terminal! I will now abuse my access to great roleplaying minds in a shameless bid to do less work myself!

We're starting a new RPG tomorrow which is a toon based Sorceror game. In short it's a Film Noir styled game set in LA and all the main characters are bound to a 'toon'. So the setting is kind of LA Confidential meets Who framed Roger Rabbit?

My character is Wes Ripley who is based heavily on Guy Pearce from LA Confidential (Square, political Police Detective with a desire to be the best cop in the world. Very few social skills, just a good cop.) His toon is more or less Brian from Family Guy; an incredibly smart and deadpan white dog.

My problem with all this is that Hix wants me to think of a kicker. A kicker is when something happens to Wes that spurs him into action. It's a life changing event, or the thing that leads up to it...For example: Bush getting into the White house again causes Bob American to move to Canada for four years....or the one for my favourite character in a Buffy game Jo was that she decided to talk to the buy she had a cruch on and ask him to the prom.

I am having the hardest time ever thinking of a kicker for Wes. So I am opening up a public forum. Let's call it the new Reality Blog Show: Get Jenni a Kicker for Wes!

By tonight would be really good, because if His doesn't have it tonight then he can't write the game up and we'll have to play Inspectres tomorrow night. Which is fine with me, but the boyz are looking forward to the new game. Maybe if I baked chocolate chip cookies they wouldn't mind so much....Hmmm.

So. Ideas for a suitable kicker anyone?
All suggestions considered, although I reserve rights to turn them all down and bake cookies instead.
