I would hate to be so careless with loved ones.

Last night we saw Super size me which is an awesome documentary. Very much in the style of Michael Moore but not quite as confrontational. I went hoping that it would put me off eating Macdonald's for life but Sok and I both found that it made us want french fries a bit.

In case you haven't heard of this movie it's about Morgan who, after hearing about the girls sueing macdonald's for making them fat decides to eat Macdonalds for 30 days and see what the health effects are.

He had rules: He could only eat food that was available from Macdonald's. He had to eat everything on the menu at least once. He had to have three square meals a day and if they asked him to super size he had to say yes. (He was only asked to super size 9 times in the whole month, so he got off rather lightly.)

It was incredible how quickly he put on weight, in one week he put on ten pounds, after a month he was 24.5 pounds heavier.

It was a witty, funny film with lots of professionals giving opinions and lots of frightening statistics. Well reccommended, especially if you eat Macdonalds and think there's nothing wrong with it. Of course all the big fast food places are more or less as bad as each other but he focussed in on Macdonald's because it's the biggest, most well known and they have stores everywhere.

But it definately made us think. I want to give up fast food, or at least cut down a lot. This will be hard while I'm in town a lot for the film festival with limited funds... We've also decided no more soft drinks, which I was working towards anyway.

After that we had greasy chinese food for dinner and then went to The Saddest Music in the World which was a hilarious movie. Faux-thirties, shot in grainy black and white it was about prohibition but set in Canada. A wealthy beer company owner announces a competition: whichever country can produce the saddest music in the world will win $2500. It was very funny and the music was very beautiful. I don't want to say much else about it except that my favourite characters were Narcissa and Roderick.

Guess who sat next to us in the Saddest Music in the World? Just guess?
