Guerilla Magazine Drop

I completed my first search-and-annotate mission on Friday, dropping one Time and two New Scientists and inserting three "Food Pyramid" leaflets into the gossip mags in the waiting room.

Just by-the-by, doesn't anyone else find it offensive that these pieces of crap are classified as "Women's Interest"? Why aren't they labelled as "Gossip Magazines"? That's non-biased and accurate. I'm going to write to Whitcoulls.

Just another wee plea - anyone with back issues of magazines that require at least one actual journalist to produce, send 'em on to me at: 4/23 Woodham Road, Avonside, Chch. I'll see they get a worthwhile home.

(If you've got back issues of gossip mags you want incinerated to avoid them falling into impressionable young hands, send them to me as well.)

yeah... the Food Pyramid... it's a bit controversial nowadays.

LALALALALALALA (fingers in my ears) LALALALALALALA

I don't want a controversial food pyramid! I want something guaranteed to be healthy: "all you have to do is X"

Just eat. Plus, even the "small" amounts at the top? They are still important for you to get some.

See, the problems as I see 'em:
1) I don't start eating when I am not hungry
2) I stop eating when I am no longer hungry
3) I can't tell when I'm hungry and when I'm sick
4) I enjoy small amounts of tasty things, but small amounts are quite enough. Processed foods are so flavourful that really, a piece of chocolate gives the same amount of flavour as a bar.

i reckon #3 is probably the biggest one. Other things aren't that weird.

yeah, but you'd be amazed the difference 1 & 2 make. Next time you eat, stop after each mouthful and ask yourself "Am I actually still hungry?" You'll probably eat only 1/3 to 1/2 of what is on the plate if you stop once you have reached temporary enough-ness.

Satiety is triggered by swallowing and chewing, before the food is actually digested. This helps prevent over-eating, because the food is only really absorbed by the body at least 30 minutes after you've eaten.

I think in me the satiety reflex is over-stimulated and I am over-sensitive to it. I cannot physically eat when I am not hungry. It makes me retch.
