This should be amusing. I’m still breathing easy - the latest Marae-Digipoll has Destiny trailing far behind, supported by 0.2% of voters on both Maori and general rolls.
Iona has already blogged about recent Brian media coverage. My mum tells me she had to rip the cover off the Listener because it was too offensive to have lying around the house.
I went to hear Lynne Truss on Friday. Go on, try the link. There’s a Hall of Fame. Someone called Erin Moore has way to much time on her hands. There’s a little game too. Apparently I’m a 92% stickler. Only because the game doesn’t test on semicolons. I am ashamed to say that although I understand the importance of semicolons, and appreciate their grace, I still have no idea what to do with them. Sorry. The talk was sold out, but since it was at St Andrew’s, I managed to arrange to be in the right place at the right time, ostensibly to help set up. She was very funny. I especially liked the anecdote about the virus...
Can’t think of a witty response to that lame pick-up line? Never fear, the paper napkin rejection service is here to help.
Find out if you can tell the difference between a dog toy and a, er, “marital aid” with this quiz. You never do find out exactly what they do.
Oh, and apparently the internet has dropped its capitals. “Why? The simple answer is because there is no earthly reason to capitalize any of these words. Actually, there never was.”

*ROTFL* Wow, Destiny's candidates really live up to their party's ideal of marriage...
Posted by: darth sappho at September 6, 2004 03:04 PMWhat ever the media says is not always accurate, Infact I believe its just a scare tatic to intimidate DNZ...
What ever God favours can not be over ruled! The media will eat their words when this all blows over.
God is true to His word the Remnant will stand and win....its the season of harvest and prosperity you watch.
Lynne Truss may be willing to measure others' stickling qualities, but calling someone "a 83% stickler" (I didn't get 100% until I worked out that you had to click on "no apostrophe" rather than just not placing one.) doesn't impress me.
I might be "an 83% stickler" or "a 100% stickler", but "a 83% stickler" just doesn't work when it's pronounced.
Besides, while she's amusing, her book doesn't really do a very good job of looking at Internet grammar at all. She's scathing without paying close attention. Also not impressive.
Posted by: Maire at September 7, 2004 02:51 PMyeah - I felt *unclean* buying that Listener. And also ripped off cover before it got to my house.
The second article is good though.
Posted by: bec at September 7, 2004 03:09 PMThe Listner 'Cover Story' was accurate and correct. There were no lies, condemnation or twisted manipulation. It was accurate, true and vibrant. Go Ps Brian!! He exposed his marriage in a beutiful manner. His family lifestyle and relationship with friends is healthy and vibrant.
Helen Clark,TVNZ,TV3,NZHerald...Eat your heart out!!
Destiny Church, CLC and City Impact Church are a 'New Breed' of Christian that has closed the door on old stale bread, flakey priest's, crooked minister and jelly fish christianese type of church.
It has gone on for too long..no more of the old crap thanks...religion and religious mindsets need to go, Its time to get real and stand up for who we represent. To be in close proximity with Jesus Christ is the only way.
I am not ashamed of the gospel of Jesus, it is the power God to salvation.
Numbers count, numbers grow and we get noticed for what we believe. The Listner has only magnified the goodness of what we believe concerning family values.
Posted by: kingite1 at September 8, 2004 03:43 PMquoting "Destiny Church, CLC and City Impact Church are a 'New Breed' of Christian that has closed the door on old stale bread, flakey priest's, crooked minister and jelly fish christianese type of church" are you saying that all other churches have flakey priests and crooked ministers ... or are you saying that churches that aren't like these have flakey priests etc
Posted by: Jo Dunning at September 9, 2004 07:27 AMWhere have you been??? Obviously you are not up with the times. Any church that has influence or growth shows that there is somthing interesting there. It has the hand of God on it. People also like how it is run, they enjoy the preaching, they love the worship...no more 70's styles song's and its more multi-cultural.(the way its supposed to be)
Any preist or minister who chooses to keep the people happy rather than preaching the truth is a flakey preist...Not all, but most NZ churches have adopted this perveying attitude.
If you can't see this, than you yourself need to get a reality check! Look how much inhouse fighting there is among members of the old church...Its no wounder they keep getting smaller and smaller.
Anyway who cares!! Their will be an entire whole new breed of church's like CLC,Destiny etc birthing throughout this nation. There is no stopping God when He gets moving.

Posted by: kingite at September 10, 2004 05:27 PMGod made the world. The world did not 'just happen'. God is the most powerful thing that exists. He loves us all. It's up to us weather we choose to love him or not, but there are consequences to what we choose.
There is good and evil, God and the devil, and there is heaven and hell. It's real! The devil HATES you - he wants to kill you, to kill your joy and ruin your future. God loves you, but if you don't give your heart to Jesus, then the deal is that you go to hell. Hell is a horrifying place, where there is the worse torment and agony - and it ever ends. If you go there you will stay there for eternity.
God loved us so much that he gave his son to die in our place to pay the price for our sins. God also gave us the word of God - the Bible. It's all written in there - so there are no excuses. Everything we need to know to live a good and fulfilling life is written down! God knows what is best for us because he designed and made us. What he has laid out for us is so much better that what we can get when we try and do things our own way. Once you have really and truly tried God's way, then you will not even dream of going back to your old ways. God's way is soooo GOOD!
Any way, here are a few things that Jesus said about homosexuality. There are many more, but this will do for now.
In Matthew 5:17-18 Jesus upheld the commandments in the Old Testament saying he had come to fulfil, and not abolish those laws. One law is Leviticus 18:22 where God commands “do not have sex with a man as with a woman, that is detestable”. So the Jews needed little convincing.
However non-Jews needed to be taught on this subject. Jesus appointed the Apostle Paul (see Acts 9) and used him for the writing of Romans 1 to non-Jews (many of whom would not have read the book of Leviticus). Romans 1: 26-27 reads: “Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion.”
Jesus through Paul therefore calls homosexuality a perversion. Reference to men receiving within themselves the due penalty for homosexual sex probably refers to sexual diseases.
The message of Jesus is one of love and forgiveness by His payment for our wrongdoings on the cross and our need to accept that gift (Romans 6:23).
The challenge for us is to not dilute God’s commands by reference only to His love. Jesus’ death for us on the cross was necessary because of our sin. It should motivate us to live for Him and it is not a license for us to live however we please. Only when we live in a loving relationship with our creator do we realise our purpose and reach our fill potential.

Good on Rev Bernice King. I am now a supporter of what Destiny Church is doing. They are following the truth. Good on them. Lets recognise a good thing and support what they are doing.
