Too kewl

for sale on trademe (unfortunately now run out) a time machine. Interesting that Eftpos was a vital component.

Oh, that's another mispronounciation that I can't stand: efpost.

Today is castle-with-the-caterers day. I'm trying to put off my morning tea as long as I can so I don't fall over before I actually get fed.

My hayfever returned at 3.30 this morning triggered by the Antarctic temperature in my house. I am now sniffly and miserable despite the claratyne I had with breakfast.

YA fiction author stalker

Meg Cabot* has a blog!

'Tis here.

Now, if she and Garth Nix** could just get together and have babies, imagine the fiction those babies would write!!!

*For the non-YA fiction author stalker: she wrote Princess Diaries, Mediator, 1-800 where are you?, All-American Girl, etc.

**For the NYaFicaustalk: he wrote Sabriel, Lireal, Abhorsen and some other stuff.

Edit: AAAAARGH! Meg Cabot has cool cafepress things too! Noooooooo!

Being a self-centred brat

I thought of some more things that I'd like for my birthday (fears that everyone will get so sick of her asking for presents that no one gives her anything but maybe lumps of coal) last night.

I can't help it. I love presents. My birthday is now two weeks and two days away and my party one day more. (One more dawn! One more day! One daaaaaaay moooooooore!)

Uhm. I never get to go to plays, so play tickets are good. I also like cinemoney for Reading and vouchers for Hoyts so I can get to movies during the upcoming months of spending lots but saving for wedding.

I also want merchandise from Cleolinda's cafepress store. Harry Potter tshirt. King Arthur joke tank top, plus Herione Addict stickers, buttons, mini buttons...Polar bear plushie with "OMGWTFpolarbear!" tshirt on and because I am a raging fangirl Sawyer stuff.

Lee has already refused to buy me these things...*le sigh*

In other being a self centred brat news I didn't go to quiz last night but stayed home to watch the Care Bears move 2 AGAIN. Apparently I'm addicted to it. Then I did some scrapbooking...kinda catching up stuff.

I found concert and ballet tickets and decided to make pages for each of those with a bit of what I remember liking the most written next to a flyer. In the future I may take pics of the peeps who accompany me to these things so the page is a bit more interesting. I can't find the flyer I feel like I saved from Dracula earlier this year...anyone else got one hanging around they don't want? Otherwise I may trawl the interweb for images...

I also need a new scrapbook. I'm hoping my Mum will get me one for my b'day.

Point of Fashion: I hate all my clothes except this tshirt
Current Obsession: things I want.
Current Music: "I care for you" from the Care Bears Movie 2
Mood: sorta grumpy.

I'm sleepy today.

Oh for the sleeping in. I wish I could sleep in always.

Supermarket cornish pastie was a mistake. Not yummy enough, but not gross enough to stop eating.

You won't get much more out of me today. I'm too grey and Tuesdayish.

Bizarre

I'm actually feeling refreshed from my weekend! It's such a strange feeling I didn't know what it was at first. Despite the moving furniture and general springcleaning and food shopping my weekend was restful. I also got to sleep in today and I'm figuring that didn't suck. (Am working the late night, so start later).

The apartment is looking really good, or rather it will once we've finished tidying. The second bedroom (a.k.a. computer room) is looking really roomy and I'm able to spread my sewing stuff out some. I can fold the washing right on the table and leave it there in the light for final drying. We watched stuff on the projector and the new position for the screen is fine.

Last night was a medley of first episodes. After finishing Porco Rosso, which is just as lovely as I remember and the dub has Michael Keaton in the lead role = awesome, we moved on to Deadwood.

I gotta say the first episode didn't do that much for me. Obviously I'll watch more before making my final decision, but it's kinda harsh and mean and upsetting. We'll see. I didn't feel much like watching more after it, so we watched the first episode of Bro Town instead. For a comedy show I thought the laughs were light. I enjoyed their mockery of Robbie Rakete but on the whole I thought it just wasn't very smart. It's doing the whole South Park make-fun-of-and-insult-everyone but without South Park's wit.
Also? Girls should on the whole do the girl voices. Lee hated it. Won't be watching any more.

So, after that Lee insisted on League of Gentlemen which has been recommended by....people? I hated this. It was so unrelentingly awful. Just nasty and gross and not that funny. After the vet put the wrong dog to sleep we decided it was too yukky and switched to Black Books, which remains wonderful.

I *heart* Bernard Black.

So, as I was saying I was feeling really refreshed and good after the weekend and then Celeste and I did the pirates themed holiday programme. We had 47 children and 22 adults turn up and now I'm exhausted. Need a nap now.

Point of Fashion: I was a pirate briefly
Current obsession: feeling kinda worn out now.

Busyness

Spent the second half of yesterday afternoon rearranging furniture. Right now the lounge looks like we've just moved in or something. We've even shifted the screen a few feet kitchen-wards...and this is all because I wanted my scrapbooking desk in the lounge with the good light.

Last night we saw Stage Beauty which was utterly wonderful. Think Shakespeare in Love but less tongue in cheek and a bit more hardcore. Billy Crudup makes a lovely woman (the story concerns the first female actors and the male actors who play women suddenly being out of a job...) quite beguiling and I do love Clare Danes.

We went to see it at the Penthouse and the audience there was really quite rude. I'm not sure if it's maybe OK to talk all through the movie at Penthouse, I wouldn't have thought so but we seemed to have a lot of it going on. Also was quite disturbed by the uproarious laughter during a genuinely harrowing scene...I guess they just didn't quite get what was actually happening on screen.

Ok. Spoiler time: In the climax of the movie Billy plays Othello to Clare Danes' Desdemona (the role he was most famed for) and during the murder scene he gets so worked up he actually nearly smothers her to death. There is a lot of him flinging her around and quite violent action. The other characters watching this are worried...they all think he's really going to kill her...I was biting my nails and half the audience was laughing like it was the funniest thing around???

end spoilers.

Anyway it's a fantastic movie and I definitely will watch it again. Brilliant script full of clever repartee and double entendres. Fascinating portrayal of a real identity crisis and the love story was very real.

This morning: Yum Char. Am looking forward to it.

Point of Fashion: Fin Pants, goth-lite tshirt
Current Obsession: sorting out the lounge so I can actually scrapbook!

In Between Months

I can't believe how quickly this week has gone. I feel like it's been 5 minutes since last Friday!

Keeping busy will do that I guess. Tonight will be the only night this week I don't have something on. It'll be something of a relief, although I've enjoyed everything I've done this week.

Hitchcock movies watched this week: Rope and Shadow of a Doubt. I really enjoyed watching Rope again. I know what happens in it but I had forgotten a lot of details. It was fun to watch the reactions of the people watching it with me...they hated the main guy but didn't want him to be discovered...I'm glad Hix told me that it's based on an actual murder which a gay couple comitted. That made all the subtext Rachel and I were laughing at valid.

I liked Shadow of a Doubt too. Some very frightening scenes and the whole premise was pulled off nicely. Basically a man goes to stay with his sister and her family. His niece begins to suspect he may be a serial killer. Awesome. Plus, adorable 40s shoes!

Dreamed about using the toilet this morning. Odd. Staying in a cabin with my aunt, Lee and a bunch of people Lee knows. They wouldn't give me privacy in the bathroom even though I was standing there with a tampon in my hand.

Point of Fashion: jeans skirt
Current Obsession: nearly weekend again!

Into the future

Comments count is already 2023. Imagine what it'll be like in 2023.

Ker-azy.

Have been mulling over the game of Dogs In the Vineyard I played in on Tuesday and after a talk with Steve at lunchtime I think I had a great time. I'm still a bit unsure though, so I'll get back to you on that later.

Costs for the wedding are rearing up. I need to buy the underwear I'm wearing under my dress sooner rather than later so the fit is right. I have to buy fabric for a mock-up and then the actual dress...next Thursday we're going up to the Castle with the caterers and soon after we'll have an actual quote for them.

The sequel to All-American Girl is very good. It's a bit more adult, and it's got a fantastically filmic story. I'm nearly finished. Then it gets lent to Chelle :)

Why I'm scared of Willie Wonka

...this hardly ever comes up. Damn Tim Burton for making a new version of the most traumatic movie I watched as a child.

True Confessions: I am frightened of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

In the past year as more and more hype has been building and more and more people have been talking about the movie. I haven't been able to avoid it.

When I was a kid I watched Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory and it terrified me. I have been able to deduce the reason why (apart from the fact that Gene Wilder is a sinister man and the music is all freaky-deaky): I watched it at a tender age when I didn't really understand live action movies. I watched it believing that all the kids were good and were being punished by evil adults after eating candy.

I liked eating candy. I didn't want freaky shit to happen to me after eating candy. I didn't like the idea that the kids were going to be dumped in the rubbish. It freaked me out!

Now obviously, everyone chants to me "But those kids were BAD!"
When I originally watched it I didn't get that. I simply didn't have the faculties to understand that some of the kids were good and some bad. I was looking at it with cartoon based understanding of: all kids good, all adults bad.

So, to this day when I watch any part of that original movie I get queasy sick feelings in my stomach. I get a disturbed/uncomfortable feeling like I'm watching innocent, defenseless kids being bullied and I don't like it.

Amphigori actually made the new version sound good to me and maybe someday I'll watch it. I don't think I can bear to see it at the movies though. I need a safer environment.

Point of Fashion: back in my new boots
Current Obsession: everyone wants me to see Wille Wonka for some reason.

Can't stop the signal

I nearly died when Lee mentioned that "Mr Universe" from Serenity is the Jewish best friend from 10 things I hate about you he just looks so different!

..so I liked the movie and all, but it was sad and scary and yeah. I feel like the others who came out of it in a weird daze.

I had a pretty annoying day yesterday and I just couldn't really get up any excitement to see the movie. I just wanted a bath and then my bed.

Books:

Necklace of Kisses by Francesca Lia Block is a wonderful new book with Weetzie Bat at 40 realising she wants her life to change. I loved it. It departs from the other books in the series in that mostly they use *actual* names...Max is Max not Secret Agent Lover Man. Witch Baby is Lily and at college! Love love love. Wandered around town trying to find a copy to no avail. Dymocks might have it I guess...

All American Girl; Ready or not by Meg Cabot. Sequel to All American Girl which I loved because I'm an art geek. The sequel is typical Meg Cabot girl stressing about things to the nth degree. I'm liking it.

In answer to Rachel's questions:

There isn't a lot that I wouldn't do if there were no consequences. I think the consequences largely determine my behaviour (like if I don't speed I'll never get a speeding ticket). If I could I would quit my job and spend all my time reading, watching DVDs and crafting.

Yes, you can have a Lezzo on Wednesday. If I could be any vegetable at all I'd be a potato because they are so versatile. I could be mashed, baked, roasted, Freedom Fried....so many options and all good.

Point of Fashion: NOT my new boots of awesomeness.

Mooooooonday

Serenity tonight.

I sewed a furry teddy bear shape onto my coveralls. I ironed on three embroidered patches, 2 ladybirds and a daisy. The effect is adorable.

I have done nothing on my jacket, so it'll just be coveralls tonight. I don't mind I'll be comfy.

I moaned to Giffy last night that I'll have the least pretty outfit of all the girls at my party. She told me that my outfit will be pretty with the jacket but still. If most of the girls are going as companions they're going to be looking more impressive than me. But that's what I chose so I shouldn't really complain. I'll be the one getting presents after all!

I just feel funny about it since I saw a picture of my gorgeous pirate party dress on Saturday and I wanted it back. I'll be comfy though, very comfy in my coveralls.

Is everybody fine? That's fine!

Yes comments from me count towards the total, although I will try not to post any more until the threshold has been passed. Total as I logged on was 1991. Ah the balmy days of Form One, school socials and crushes on the wrong boys.

Yesterday my sister invited me shoe shopping since as she pointed out I still haven't found wedding shoes and she wanted opinions on shoes that she could wear with 3/4 pants and shirts that weren't too girly.

After looking in all the shoe places on Lambton Quay the ones I loved most were $170 from Overland. I bought them. They are comfy, high heel, great colour, flashy and classically gorgeous. I love them to bits, although they were MUCH more expensive than I have planned. If they'd had more pairs I might have waited for them to go on sale....but no. I saw some other shoes I loved there on sale for $80. They were completely inappropriate for the wedding, hence the not buying them but I want them a lot. If anyone wants to get me Overland vouchers for my birthday I'd be verrrrry happy.

I also bought an awesome pair of black biker boots from #1 shoe warehouse for $6.95. They have all their winter boots on sale now, so it was very tempting indeed. I resisted buying more than the one pair though, having already spent all that money on heels a la Sex in the City.

I voted Green and I'm glad I did because they needed all the votes they got. I suspect a lot of would-be green voters went with Labour instead.

This morning I dreamed that I was a prisoner on a pirate ship. Suraya laced me into a corset and then we had to go through an evil funhouse.

Point of Fashion: Towel head, legwarmer feet
Current Obsession: shoes. I am turning into either Imelda Marcos or my Father. Not sure which is scarier.

some thoughts

following on from Giffydoll, some thoughts:

I like new things, or second hand nice things given to me.

Must get on with it.

Driving along Thorndon Quay is perilous.

Pedestrians seem to fear nothing.

Why do they always sell out of lamb and kumera pies? Why don't they put more in the pie warmer?

Chocolate fix cookies make me happy endorphin pumping high.

New book about Weetzie Bat makes me cry with happiness, practically.

I love these authors so much.

Must get invitation sent off.

Lee's stubble is too spikey.

Talking on the phone makes me feel like a teenager again.

I'm so pleased I can share these things. I've been carrying them around in secret for so long.

Important

Election stuff.

I thought it'd be easier to just link through to Fi rather than copy it all out again.

I'm going to vote Green!

Ideals not Policies!

That'll be about all from me about the election.

Other stuff

emails aren't flooding into my inbox fast enough so I'll update again with some things I forgot to mention.

Here is my birthday list. It's not too early!

Of course, there's a bunch of other stuff I want now, like the totally renamed spy game and more DVDs and stickers and suchlike.

I'll get my birthday invite out sometime today. I will email it because I can't be arsed making one like last year. Aah the laziness of me!

I'm reading Across the Wall by Garth Nix and it's fantastic. The Creature in the Case is verreh verreh good and I'm loving all the other stories too. The Hansel and Gretel one is really sticking with me so far. I'm nearly finished it actually...soon...soon. Must buy duraseal so I can protect my book.

What to do at lunchtime? Interfacing or duraseal? I can't do both...I think duraseal wins because I can get food at the same place. Interfacing can wait til Saturday.

Oh and Suraya asked so I thought others might be interested. My hip librarian outfit was: Charcoal fin pants, red doc boots, black v neck wide knit wool fitted jersey with white singlet underneath, mother-of-pearl brooch in shape of a tiare flower and hair pulled back in very neat ponytail. Glasses.

I was told after doing my presentation that I am a natural speaker, I looked very profession and over the orange juice yesterday morning (direct quote) "Oh! You're one of those fantastic librarians from Wellington"

Things about stuff

I had a lovely sleep last night. I don't remember Lee turning off the reading light so I fell alseep very fast indeed. I slept right through til 5.30 when I had to wake up and sneeze a lot. Then back to sleep til the alarm.

Note to Concert fm: I don't like waking up to ominous organ music, kthx.

I'm feeling very up today, positive and happy and enthused. My last day at conference was really very good.

Oooooh I didn't tell you about the dinner and dancing yet did I? I ended up wearing black skirt and red top. I wore my patterned black tights and my little black shoes with butterflies on the toes. My hair was up in candybar-style floofy pigtails and I wore my multi-strand floating pearl necklace. I felt pretty-ish but unimpressive. I'm still annoyed at the lameness of the theme. I would have loved to break out one of my awesome costumes, but I just wasn't inspired enough.

In the arrival area they had a copoeira demonstration which I watched for about 20 minutes before heading in to schmooze with the other delegates. As it turns out bubbly champagne is really nice and after two glasses I get a very nice buzz. I got pretty silly and so did one of my bosses. After we went into the dinner I switched to plain old sauv blanc and the buzz went away. I got another glass of the bubbly but my buzz never really returned. *pout*. Anyway. I did dance and it was fun and the food was lovely and I had a rocking time.

I got tired about 11 and then they played "Rockin' Robin" and I knew it was time for me to go back to the hotel. I was actually feeling a bit sick and had switched to water so I didn't want to go to sleep straight away. I watched some cartoon network and then got three hours of blissful sleep. Then I woke up at 3ish and didn't get back to sleep til 5. Meh. So a lot of people thought I was more hungover than I actually was because I was so tired.

Anyhoo. I'm back now with a huge bag of pens to distribute and lots of fudge and toffee for myself.

I'll have to remember to get myself some bubbly for my birthday party.

whizz

Phew.

Just did my paper. It went fine and dandy. Hopefully my stomach will settle down now. I've got a theory that all my tummy woes are due to stress, which I haven't been feeling in my head so much, it all being channelled to the guts.

Christchurch is freaking freezing and I am not coping well. My hotel room is lovely and I've been seeing bits of movies on Sky 1. Thankfully our hotel is half a block from the conference so I don't have to go out too much, the wind is straight from Antarctica. I have made two missions to the fudge cottage and will be returning with much toffee.

I had dinner last night with my aunt and uncle, 9 year old cousin and 15 year old cousin. It was actually really nice, laid back and fun. My 9 year old cousin thinks I'm the coolest person ever, although I didn't leave her with my neopets account password in the end as I don't want to lose all my items!

I've got lots of free goodies from the stall holders, including about a dozen pens. If anyone wants any pens, let me know now and I'll get some more...

Big dinner and dance tonight. I don't think I'll stay very late.

I saw the first 45 minutes of Cruel Intentions last night before I fell asleep and now I want to see the rest of it. Shopping in Chch is somewhat disappointing, it's all souvenier shops.

Come Dancing?

It just occured to me that I could wear a sort of raver outfit for the big dinner and dance on Wednesday...my boss might not think it's appropriate though...ah its all so hard! The theme is "Come Dancing" and we are encouraged to wear red, silver and gold. Gah.

This very afternoon I leave for the big library conference in Christchurch. I'll be co-presenting a paper on Tuesday at 1.35 so please send good vibes at that time. Specifically vibes of clear thought, clear speech, and not-fucking-up. Thanks.

I'm back Wednesday evening so no movie screening.

Today I must pack my stuff (already half organised). I also want to duraseal some books before I go which means I should go and buy duraseal.

Yesterday Rachel and I saw the Woodsman. I liked it a lot. The psychology was very good. By that I mean that people's actions and reactions all seemed very true. It was disturbing in places, but it has a good ending so that's good. I cried a bit and afterwards I felt shaky and we sat in the sun on the waterfront and talked and I felt better.

If the premise makes you squick don't see it, but if it interests you on any level I think it's a very worthwhile movie. Similar to Machinist in the following ways:
Central character is a troubled and unhappy man.
Colour palettes similarly muted, with bright colours used sparingly.
Tense and psychologically thrilling to watch.

See you Thursday! (Or Wednesday night if I'm not too tired from the whole trip.)

Mupple

Still not well. I wanted to go to work today but no matter what I did my stomach was queasy and funny and bad. I have spent the morning in bed playing pokemon. I have 54 pokemon now. 5 badges. I rock.

Last night we watched The Man Who Knew to Much which was pretty weird. I liked it although the main child character was very very annoying. Doris Day was quite adorable in it, and her singing voice is fantastic.

We were all a bit shocked at the attitudes shown though...after he learns that their child has been kidnapped, Jimmy Stewart forces his wife to take some valium *before* he even lets her know what's happened. Niiiiice. I had to keep reminding myself "it was made in 1955".

Remember if you see someone you think might be famous: glare at them with open hostility until you have the courage to ask if it's really them. It makes perfect sense.

burp (grossout sickness entry)

Eurgh. I have come home sick from work.

yesterday afternoon I started feeling relly bad, but I had important conference stuff going on so I just got through it. Last night I felt pretty good so I was opimistic, but before leaving this morning I had a bad visit to the bathroom. Not good. Then I started feeling nauseous and my stomach said "Blort. Blort" and there was burping that felt like it was practically vomiting so I came home.

I picked up some hot chips because it was the only food I could think of eating without feeling nauseous. We'll see how that turns out.

There hasn't been any vomiting and I intend to keep it that way. Diarrhea is one thing, I'm kinda used to the way that works. I haven't vomited in about 7 years and like Sienfeld, I'd like to keep it that way.

I have big hopes for a nap after Dr Phil after which I will be completely well. People can still come over tonight, Lee will still be going out and lying on the couch watching DVDs doesn't much take it out of me.

I just can't afford to be sick righ now. I have to go to conference in Christchurch on Sunday and present a paper on Tuesday. Rest today. I'll be better tomorrow.

I'm your little butterfly

I played dancemat after Star Wars last night. It's a good workout, I get all hot and out of breath. I like it too, so I want to keep playing even though I'm out of breath!
I have my favourite song from it stuck in my head
("Ay-yi-yi I'm your little butterfly!")

Star Wars was great fun, really scary and action-packed and I was sure we were all going to die several times over which is perfectly in keeping with the genre when you think about it.

I spent the whole night clenching my teeth while I slept and my jaw is quite sore this morning. My nose is itchy with hayfever and I'm hungry. Woes!

Last night I dancematted and then I watched Farenheit 451 which was weird. Lee got bored during it because it's very 'of it's time'. i.e. the 60s. The acting isn't really...natural...and the futuristic setting was just...not.

I can't understand why they had the same actress playing both lead female roles..unless it was just to focus attention on the lead male and make the story all about him. Which it did. It was weird hearing Warner Horzeg(?) doing a French accent too.

I'm enjoying Neverwhere. I finally got around to reading Neverwhere! I've only been meaning to since, like, forever.

Love and hugs. Work is busy.

Entry # 601

Woops...last entry was my 600th!

Never mind. I guess it's just one of those landmarks that doesn't really mean much.

Got my trademe shoes today, they are completely adorable.

On the weekend I saw all my family, which was lovely. We had Yum Char on Saturday morning with Sister, her fiance, mum and dad and the Mangels. It was great to see the Mangels actually. Should make an effort to see them more.

Lee and I went shopping after that, ostensibly for a Father's Day present for Lee's father. I bought parasols. One for me and one each for my bridesmaids. I'm not sure if we'll actually use them what with Wellington wind and the hilltop wedding but y'know. They're pretty and at $8 each won't break the bank. I also bought a new book: Garth Nix's new book of short stories (Including the creature in the case Giffy!).

Saturday afternoon we saw my brother and sister-in-law and neice for a nice relaxed afternoon tea. I borrowed a roleplaying game.

Saturday night was another Rugby and pot luck at Chelle and Jase's and I was in a strange mood. We played Betrayal at the House on the Hill and I was sure we were all going to die until the betrayer made a fatal error. Thanks for that Jase! We were able to win then.

Sunday was my day of achievement:
Played on the dancemat after Seraph gave me a bunch more songs
Hemmed my fin pants, Lee's new jeans and my jeans skirt
Handwashed the two jerseys I'm taking to conference
Grocery shopping
scrapbooking.

Then we had dinner with Lee's family for Father's Day.

A great but full weekend. Last night we watched the pilot of Firefly again so I could see Kaylee's outfit. Her coveralls are sleeveless! WHY are her coveralls sleeveless???!!!??

Horse songs

I was trying to think of songs with horses in them (good songs mind you) so I can make a cd compilation.

So far I have:

Live ~ Horse

Tori Amos ~ Winter

Tori Amos ~ horses

That song which goes "I came through the desert on a horse with no name" but I'm not sure I want to include it.

Has anyone got any thoughts on other songs with horses in? I feel sure there's a Beatles one but I can't think of it.

Excitement

We've got tickets to the preview screening of Serenity. I've got grey coveralls. I've got blue Chinese brocade and a Jacket pattern. I've got Lee's costume nearly sorted.

I in a buzz of Firefly Fangirl Birthday Anticipation.

Savemart is pretty cool. Awesome range of coats. If anyone wants a trenchcoat that's definitely the place to go.

I am a whirl of scrapbooking: powering through the old photos and liking the results. I made two pages using downloaded bookcovers. One full of picture books surrounding a photo of lil' me holding a book (Barbapapa, Curious George, Where the Wild Things Are, Crictor, Monster at the End of this book, etc) and another one with no photo (there are very few photos of teenage me considering) but book covers of 'important' books I read during high school. These include Greenmantle, Reaper Man, Weetzie Bat and Witch Baby, Wild Magic, Castle of Deception, Pawn of Prophecy, Interview with the Vampire, Jurassic Park and Alex.

They look good. I'll have to do the same with chapter books I read before high school (Narnia, BFG, Witches, Halfmen of O, Lotta Leaves Home, Perfect Hamburger, Olga Da Polga) and books I love now (Across the Nightingale Floor, Sabriel, Northern Lights, Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night time, Princess Diaries, Agony of Alice, etc...).

To get the pictures I use the cover images from Amazon.co.uk I could use the American site but in NZ we usually get the British covers and I wanted to get matching editions to the ones I've read where possible.

This has been a sad loser post from a craft geek at home in PJs thinking about sleep at 9.15 on Friday night.

Murfle

am sick with the belly. Bad belly.

Lee came home and I was not as welcoming as I might have been because of the belly. My belly hates me and wants me to suffer.

I am pleased Lee is home.

The octopus at the airport was out of its urn and swimming all over its tank like a crazy freaky ugly thing.

The airport was very quiet. I watched the octopus to make sure it didn't get out. I could tell it was trying to.

I have stayed in bed all morning playing pokemon and reading.

I finished Bridge to Terebithia which I had never read before and Lord, it made me cry. Great book, a real American classic in the manner of Tuck Everlasting.

Lee brought me presents: the first manga in the first CardCaptor Sakura series and the entire boxed set of Alanna books. *grin*. Am spoilt.

Now it's time for Dr Phil.
