Strangely odd

I feel naked this week. Only two days in to the non-wearing of the pedometer and I miss it...kind of. I don't think the experiment worked terribly well to make me more active, I'm just too lazy.

My hayfever is trying to kill me still. It kind of calmed down over the weekend, but today it's back and vengency and I go sneezy sneezy sneezy.

I am reading The Red Cardigan which is about a girl called Evie who is psychic and sees dead people. It's very good and exciting, I should get it finished at morning tea time.

I am really enjoying watching through the Sherlock Holmes episodes. Especially the blatant allusions to his drug addictions and the veiled hints at a deeper relationship between Holmes and Watson, if you know what I mean. Eh what? Well...maybe that's just Lee and me being silly.

My favourite quote: Holmes: "You know my methods, you figure it out."

Itching to play more Inspectres.

Sunday arvo

I have been productive. I have written up my entry for the Scenario Design Contest for Kapcon. It is all pretty and nice. It has pictures and quotes. I don't think it'll win but it's nice to have it all typed and pretty and that will make it easier for me to run at Kapcon, right?

I called it Matchmaking and Machinations which was Hix's name that he came up with.

Yum Char this morning with family and Lee's family and Chelle and Jase. (They count as family now I guess, sorry guys!) It was great as always.

I bought the missing Lemony Snicket books for my collection and we went to the cheap DVD shop in Jville and got Fargo, Mary Shelley's Frankenstein and the Trouble with Harry which increases the black comedy content of our DVD collection sunstantially!

Yesterday was spent visiting my family and it was very warm and relaxing. I finished the second book of Abarat which was good, and I read a very crappy kid's book called the hidden stairs and the magic carpet and was the first of the Secrets of Droon series. Yeah. Sounds good doesn't it?

Squee!

I have new things! Hooray!

Thanks Suraya for showing me the Thunderpants website. Now I have me some lovely brightly coloured new thunderpants.

Hooray for the pretties.

I am feeling somewhat anti-social right now. I want to see my parents but I can't bring myself to feel enthused about what my friends have organised. (Just trying to remain lazy is my only reason for not wanting to walk in a lovely bush setting. I must be lazy!) ....also I really hate driving up the rimutaka road so that's another good reason.

I need about three months away from the city and the work and the net. Anyone got a spare island I could inhabit for a while? I feel worn out by everything. (Maybe just still tired...)

Anyway, hooray for new things.

Bleuah

There's a kind of argument over on my livejournal about how anime is or isn't hentai. I could get into a big fuss over this right now and vent, but I really can't be bothered.

I *will* just say this here and now, and I'll repeat it on my livejournal for the meme-ness there. If you are going to post a comment that you _know_ will offend me...can ya not? I mean, OK sure, equating anime with hentai isn't a direct insult to me but it's pretty obvious that I won't like what you're saying since y'all know I watch a lot of anime and hate a lot of porn. So do what the old maxim (and Evie) says: If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all.

(Please don't get this confused with disagreeing with me, which I encourage. It's the offensive stuff I don't like and that shouldn't be a surprise to anyone. I'm pretty sure the boundries between y'know discussion and offence should be easy to distinguish, basically don't say mean things about stuff I love, right? Right.)

This week is my can't be bothered week, you may have noticed I am light on the blogging. That's why. My sleeping is still all up the ....wop....(is that offensive?) and I'm kinda surviving moment to moment.

Fresh and Fruity yoghurt to go is really yummy but the regular stuff is packed with sugar. You need to get the lite stuff with no added sugar, but that's easy because the flavours are all yummier in the lite range. Mmmmm mango and passionfruit.

Also have been watching Sherlock Holmes so I can give it back to the Mattasaurus and Debzster. I like it a lot. Last night it was "The solitary cyclist" and "The Crooked man". I thought the latter would be better named "the awful tragic story of true love gone horribly wrong with betrayal, torture and a really cute mongoose."
Awesome.

Old jeans?

Does anyone have any old pairs of jeans hanging around their house that you no longer want or need, but haen't gotten around to chucking out?

If you do, can I have them?

I am planning an all jeans quilt, and I have a bunch of my own pairs, but I don't think I have enough...so any and all jeans donations welcome. Ripped, coloured, faded whatever. Just clean please!

Don't wanna!

I'm too grumpy to blog.

BUT I watched a DVD last night with the lovely J-lately-of-Auckland and it was a French DVD and it was pretty good. Funny and farcical and about what to do when you want to have a husband and a lesbian lover. Lee didn't like it very much, but I don't think any of us are surprised.

I finally got the December Empire magazine yesterday after trooping over to the garage or supermarket *every day* last week in case it had come out. It wasn't quite worth the wait, but then I haven't read the Johnny Depp interview yet so it may redeem itself.

I want to see these upcoming movies: Ella Enchanted, Lemony Snicket, Finding Neverland, Incredibles, Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow. Thankfully the first two are out pretty soon so not too long to wait. My sister is going to see Shall We Dance? with me and then I just need a date to see Bridget Jones 2.

There was a big thing on Sunday at the BBQ when Lee went off at me for suggesting he liked the first one so I won't be counting on him for that.

(Even though afterwards I explained that far from claiming he loved it I had merely mentioned he enjoyed it. He had bizarrely thought I was running around telling everyone that he *Lurved* it and he wanted to have its babies. Or something. Anyway he jumped to a weird conclusion and had a nice long complain about me to everyone. It's OK, we've sorted it out now. I just suspect that all the gazebo people may think I am running around telling people that Lee likes movies. God Forbid.)

I have the Weeping Song by Nick Cave in my head, and I like it!
My back is sore and I am sleeping badly and this makes me grumpy.

Underland

...is a fantastic ballet. I just loved watching them dance to the dark sinister Nick Cave songs. Giffy: it was the most extreme version of Aliens-trying-to-communicate ballet ever!

It was preluded by part fo a different ballet called Ellipse, and I really liked those dances too. It was three seperate dances that you were supposed to make up your own story for. That suited me just fine.

The first one was about a lady who had a demon possessed arm. She met another woman with a possessed arm and they had a lovely romantic relationship. Then a man turned up and the girlfriend was attracted to him. The man wanted her but not her lover. The girlfriend wanted both of them but it wasn't to be. She left with the man and the original possessed arm lady was left alone in the swamp. (This whole thing takes place in a magic swamp.)

The second one didn't really have a story but was my favourite of the three. It was a truly joyful dance with two sets of partners. They did lots of silly dances like "I'm going to hop back and forth over your outstretched leg" and "Billy-Bob dancing" (heh, some people know what I mean there...) The dancers for this one looked like they truly enjoyed themselves and that joy wa somewhat contagious. There were high fives and bottom slaps and it was awesome.

The third one was about an order of monks. They were living in happy seclusion with their rituals until their white goddess showed up in the flesh before them. One monk was immediately attracted to her and she eventually picked him over the others. They were lovers and he was granted mystic vision powers for being the Goddess's consort. Eventually he tried to break away from her and return to the order, she didn't want to let him go but he fought his way free, forsaking the magic vision and leaving her alone in the dark.

Then it was Underland and I fell in love with the songs "The Weeping Song" and "Stagger Lee". I also loved "Prelude to Death" although it was pretty darn spooky and "Wild World" which had some awesome lyrics.

I was sad they didn't do "Wild Roses" but not that surprised. They seemed to shy away from using his really famous stuff. (No Red Right Hand, sob!)

Anyway now I need someone to choreograph and perform ballets based on the works of these musicians: Leonard Cohen, Tori Amos, Tom Waits (Heee! Singapore!) and more Nick Cave I think. The show was only 41 minutes long, so I think they could do more right?

Making a difference

Stuff led me to this site: 4 million careful owners

There's a quiz you can take to find out how much you know (or don't know as in my case) about energy efficiency and what we can do better to save the planet.

Following on from yesterday's end-of-the-world warning, I don't know how much use it will be to take the bus to work instead of driving, but it can't hurt right?

I am at home today because I am a zombie. I am a zombie because of the freaking fire alarm going off in the middle of the night again. I really hate being pulled out of bed and out into the cold. My body hates it too, because my stomach went verrrry queasy as we came back in. Couldn't get back to sleep for a good long time and woke up this morning feeling pretty much zombified. The plan for today: Dr Phil. Then sleep. Then ballet.

Too too soppy

OK, so how soppy is it for a grown woman to be wearing one half of those gawdawful "best friends" necklaces, that is half a heart and your best friend has the other half?

I say it is extremely sad and soppy to wear one of those once you are no longer a teenager.

My sister pointed out to me a while back that it was especially ridiculous because the words "best" and "friend" get broken with the heart necklace, so one person gets something that says "Be Fri" and the other person gets to be a "st end".

Boys don't have to put up with this crap, so I don't think girls should either.

/end rant.

PS. Giffy! You're my Be Fri!

Life imitates blockbuster

Looks like the Day After Tomorrow wasn't far out at all. A New Zealand scientist is going to speak out at a convention about the dangers of global warming. We're all going to die.

Now I just need to hear about snow falling in Calcutta and then I'll expect Jake Gylenhaal to turn up at my library and persuade me to burn books. No, that's not a euphemism for anything, get your mind out of the gutter.

Mystery markings

I have blue stripes on the soles of my feet. Like someone has been marking days on me. There's one on my left foot and two on my right. About a centimetre long and thick, like sharpie pen.

I haven't been standing on sharpie pens, so I suspect Lee is drawing on me in the night. I haven't broached the subject with him as I don't want to sound accusatory. Or insane.

Maybe it's a skin condition?

I have read the latest Lemony Snicket book The Grim Grotto. It was very good, exciting and twisty and more-secrets-revealed...Durnit I need the next one. Now I am reading the second Abarat book, Days of Magic, Nights of War. I probably should have re-read the first one because there's a character in it that I thought had died, so I am obviously not remembering the story right.

Ah well. Too late now.

I am hungry for the new Empire magazine, which should be out Any Day Now. I have checked the Ngaio BP today and it's not there. When will it arrive precious?

I can read my yahoo mail at work again, hooray hooray!

Watched some Sherlock Holmes last night. Lee finds them slow paced, but I enjoy the time you get to figure out the mystery yourself. There's some truly terrible acting in it though. Especially in The Dancing Men....

Yay, it's coming out sunny at last! I dressed for warmer climates this morning, because it was warm at home. Work is much less warm, and I was seriously considering heading home at lunch time for a warm jersey. Now I may not have to. I am easily pleased today, although perplexed over the foot markings.

More babies! Bigger babies!

My title isn't referring to babies as such, but the desire for things to be grander, better and cooler. (It's a making fiends referenve, BTW "vote vote vote!")

Now that I have resigned myself to wearing my glasses almost all the time I find myself wanting better glasses. My glasses help me see better and they look fine, but I want them to do MORE. Here follows a list of what cool things my glasses should be able to do:

  1. Enhance my vision telescopically, allowing me to read fine print from the far side of the restaurant, or see an ant at fifty paces.
  2. Text news feed that scrolls down one side of my vision. Stuff like: You have new email. A time read out would be useful too, as long as I could turn it off and on.
  3. Little windscreen wipers for when I am walking in the rain, it'd also be good if they could clean themselves like windscreens, although I wouldn't want water jets.
  4. Night vision.

Is that too much to ask? I mean, it *is* the twentyfirst century now. If I can't have a car that folds up into a suitcase then at least I should have glasses that can magnify 200 times when I ask them too.

Nyoop

I dunno. It's all rainy and windy and really kinda cold. We had this fantastic weekend of heat and sun and bliss and now Monday's weather suits Monday's mood perfectly.

I wish I could never work again. I just want to stop everything and lie on the couch and blob out.

It's a nice dream and a common one for a Monday.

summery Saturday morning

Ok, so it's afternoon now.

Just been at Yum Char where I ate too much (as per usual for Yum Char) two coconut buns today.

Last night I watched LA Confidential and the special edition of Aladdin. Lee said I was allowed to sing along to the latter so I did. It was fun! It inlcuded a deleted song performed by Clay Aitken!

Yesterday in my lucky-special time off from work I went shopping and spent money at Supre. I bought a pink skirt (which I am wearing today in the hotness) and two ponchos. One is chocolatey brown and one is greens. Hooray!

This weekend is turning out to be full, but I guess it's better to be out and about in this kind of weather.

rudeness

I was just thinking about the increasing levels of rudeness I am treated to at work. Mostly I've noticed that people say "WHAT?!" Instead of "oh really? What would that be for?" when I tell them they have money owing.

Just now it was all crystalized when I said "Hi" to someone and she responded with a "Eeeeyargh" noise. I have no idea what she thought she was saying possibly "Yeah" but it was definately "Eeeeyargh". I think she may be a vulture or possibly a skeksis from Dark Crystal.

Odd. Perhaps it is the hip new way of saying hello and I just don't know it. Must remember and try it out.

Finished re-watching Firefly last night. Now I can lend it out! I think the episodes at the 'end' (really the middle) of the series are not quite as strong. Lee was moaning all through them too, which was annoying. He doesn't seem to understand that while it is fun for him to make fun and point out all the plot holes, it makes my experience Less Fun. I have to keep reminding him.

My favourite episodes are Jaynestown, Shindig, Our Mrs Reynolds aaaaand Safe. I really like Simon although he is a big geek. Kaylee is the awesomest, and I can't get over how beautiful Inara is. (I don't think she's smug at all, I think she's gorgeous...)

Oooh so I finished reading Snow White, Blood Red and it's awesome and I want to keep it. I won't though, I'll give it back. There was just one story that was too upsetting I think it was called 'liytle Poucit" anyway, it was too disturbing. I loved the rest though and the Puss in Boots one was great.

I also have read Going Back which is a NZ young adult book by David Hill. It's about car accidents. Pretty grim reading but very well written. Hard to put down.

Crap crap crap

Ok, so our car is with the mechanic, will prolly cost $500 and we don't know when we're getting it back.

Last night it wouldn't start. It was like, No way! You walk suckers!

So, Lee called the AA and it was pronounced unfixable-by-AA and towed to the nearest Motor Dr's. How lame. Bus to work again.

Total Immersion

It might be because I did the wrong research. I watched Family Guy instead of LA Confidential.

I feel bad about the game last night.

Not because of the game because I feel like I roleplayed badly. I was a poor roleplayer last night. Actually, I got the feeling I was trying to play a character too far removed from me so I didn't know how he should be reacting. I didn't feel like I embodied him properly. Gah.

This is a real pity because the game is freaking awesome and I want to do it justice. At least now I know how the system works and I have some stuff to think about and some interesting stuff going on (like, I seriously pissed off my toon.) Next time I promise to be better. In the meantime, as promised to the illustrious and awesome GM Hix, a summary of what happened to my character last night:

Binding scene: Wes and Greystone in a Western Salloon in Toon Town. Wes mentions that Greystone said something a while back that he didn't like. (That he'd never be good enough to do any better than he is.)
Wes offers a partnership: Greystone will help Wes out for cigars and martinis. They have a cigar smoke off to seal the deal, Wes loses, turning green and choking. Greystone and Wes leave together.

Wes Ripley walks into the movie lot where his toon/demon Greystone is playing poker with some toons and a gunsel (Svend's character Danny). Greystone is cleaning Danny out.

Wes and Greystone meet up with the commissioner and watch him have a meeting with an ex-con Home Run (Seraph's character). Home Run has a toon called Miss Minx who is apparently in love with Greystone. Greystone translates the conversation in which Home Run promises the commish that he will not commit any more crimes. Then he says to his 'friend' Melvin to count him in on the big heist because he hates the commish. Wes finds this interesting but not as interesting as Miss Minx who is acting like Greystone's groupie.

Wes and the commish go ...somewhere...to talk. The commish asks Wes to get some officers watching Home Run and make sure he doesn't interrupt the Commish's big Shindig that's coming up. He also mentions that Wes has a new partner. A woman. Wes has never had a partner before and now he gets a dame? He is very angry but the only sign of this is the white knuckles gripping the chair. The commish also hints at a captaincy vacancy that might be coming up soon and that one of them might get it if they play their cards right.

After that Wes heads back to his office. Greystone mentions that his throat's getting dry and the thing that's clear that up is the Captain's cigars. The ones he keeps in his desk drawer. Wes has a crisis of conscience until his phone rings. It's Keith Byrnel socialite..offering him an invitation to a private gathering of influential people and possibly making romantic overtures. Greystone certainly thinks so saying "ask him if he's gay!" repeatedly. Wes accepts the invitation and gets off the phone.

After checking with the receptionist about Captain -something-'s whereabouts Wes attempts to filch a cigar for his toon. Unfortunately the Captain returns and catches him snooping. The captain doesn't like Wes any so uses the opportunity to run him down. Wes mentions that he has been talking to the commissioner and that seems to set him back a little. Needless to say, Wes doesn't get a cigar for Greystone.

Immediately following this Wes is visited by a female journalist who is rather crush-worthy. She has something for him, something private. They go to the file room (nobody ever goes there after all) and she gives him...an evelope. Containing pictures of the Toon Town police commissioner conducting a business transaction with the head of the Italian Mafia.
Wes thanks the lady and mentions that he owes her a favour. She seems very pleased with this...as she leaves another lady enters, Wes's new partner.

She asks what's in the envelope and they go for coffee. Wes is taunted in a whole new way "Who's your date?" by some cop. Wes asks the lady what she knows about Boss Pig. After she tells him she asks what he knows. Wes passes her the envelope much to Greystone's chagrin. After looking at the photos she mentions that there are two ways to place this: Straight and Narrow or to use the pics for blackmail. Wes is unimpressed that she'd even think of that (mind you, she did transfer from Internal Affairs...). She tells him to sit on it and think it through. Greystone says "yeah Wes. sit on it." Wes snaps at Greystone telling him to shut up or he'll get nothing but Lucky Strikes. (No more delcious cigars). Greystone is highly annoyed and leaves.

Wes decides to take the photos to his Commissioner and try and make his big career break.

....yeah. Heaps of other stuff happened with the other characters and there were witty quips but I left my notebook at home. The only one I remember is Seraph saying: "when the bananas start screaming, I head round the back"
Aaaah Toons.

An entry on socks

The next person to comment on my blog will be the 1111th person. It's like eleventy-first but longer.

I was thinking about long socks. I lurve long socks. Stripey long socks to be precise. More to the point I was getting annoyed at the way that my socks can stretch to over my knees but then inevitably slip down and gather behind my knees and itch, leaving my kneecaps exposed and chilly.

It's a big problem. What I need in fact is stocking length socks. Socks that go all the way to mid-thigh. I can't buy those. I just sit/stand and dream.

My asian long socks are better designed than the ones I buy from Kirk's. The asian ones seem to use a superior elastic that keeps the socks where they're meant to be but don't cut into my leg circulation like the kirks ones. When I remove my kirks socks after a day's wear I can clearly see where the socks ende because they cut in so much I have a purple leg with sock-cuff texture. Like pillow-crease-face Extreme.

My best socks at the moment are the purple stripey knee socks my sister got me in Korea. They are very snug and comfy and are a different purple inside. If only they were thigh length.

Lee said why don't I just wear stockings? I bet you're thinking it too. Well, I'll tell you why. Stockings aren't as thick and warm. They're just not. Plus they get ladders in 'em and they are delicate and annoying to wash. On top of all that you can't get them in a wide range of coloured stripes. I need my stripes.

My stripey socks are like a mood indicator. Here's a quick guide:

Red and white: I feel quirky and silly and I want to look like the cat in the hat or Jemima from Playschool.

Black and White: I feel sophisticated. Maybe a bit Gothy, cool.

Rainbow: I feel cheerful and perky.

Pink and black: I feel gothy and cute, cheerful but not *rainbow* cheerful.

Purple and purple Korea socks: I love my new socks!

Black and Red: I am not a Canterbury rugby fan, so shut up about it.

Red and White with a blue panel with white stars in it at the top: I need long socks but I don't want to advertise America so I'll wear these under pants. In short: I want to feel warmer.

White, pink and blue panels with a pink glitter stripe: I am feeling nostalgic so I'm wearing these, even though they are getting a bit flufy and ratty.

Help Jenni Kick!

Ok, so I'm cheating a little here.
Sorry Hix! This brain blank seems terminal! I will now abuse my access to great roleplaying minds in a shameless bid to do less work myself!

We're starting a new RPG tomorrow which is a toon based Sorceror game. In short it's a Film Noir styled game set in LA and all the main characters are bound to a 'toon'. So the setting is kind of LA Confidential meets Who framed Roger Rabbit?

My character is Wes Ripley who is based heavily on Guy Pearce from LA Confidential (Square, political Police Detective with a desire to be the best cop in the world. Very few social skills, just a good cop.) His toon is more or less Brian from Family Guy; an incredibly smart and deadpan white dog.

My problem with all this is that Hix wants me to think of a kicker. A kicker is when something happens to Wes that spurs him into action. It's a life changing event, or the thing that leads up to it...For example: Bush getting into the White house again causes Bob American to move to Canada for four years....or the one for my favourite character in a Buffy game Jo was that she decided to talk to the buy she had a cruch on and ask him to the prom.

I am having the hardest time ever thinking of a kicker for Wes. So I am opening up a public forum. Let's call it the new Reality Blog Show: Get Jenni a Kicker for Wes!

By tonight would be really good, because if His doesn't have it tonight then he can't write the game up and we'll have to play Inspectres tomorrow night. Which is fine with me, but the boyz are looking forward to the new game. Maybe if I baked chocolate chip cookies they wouldn't mind so much....Hmmm.

So. Ideas for a suitable kicker anyone?
All suggestions considered, although I reserve rights to turn them all down and bake cookies instead.

Beef Stew on Mars

People originally thought there might be beef stew on Mars in the dark ages.
Prehistoric peoples would look at the night sky, see Mars and dream of awesome
beef stew.

This carried on through the ages into the Rennaissance when great minds such as Leonardo
Da Vinci
drew sketches of what they imagined Martian Beef Stew to look like.

Most modern scientists beleive that there is no beef stew on Mars.

Research Project

Your mission is to find information and report on beef stew,
other than the ones listed above, that has made the headlines in the last
100 years. Your reports must include:

  1. Type of beef stew
  2. Geographic location
  3. Name, distance, and population of nearest major city
  4. Dates of most recent and most delicious servings.
  5. Other events associated with the recent servings.
(bread rolls, french fries, entrees, etc)

Then, write a one page description on how you would create such a delicious beef stew.
Name all your ingredients with the correct measurements given and the length of time you
would simmer the stew.

oogie guy fawkes

Yesterday I topped 9000 steps, hurrah!

I guess that's an indication that going out and walking round town after work is more active than sitting on the couch all night. I am learning so much with my pedometer!

I can't beleive how awful the weather is today...it's just revolting. I mean, we've had pleasant weather all week and it's been warm..then the one day we really want a clear sky it's grey, drizzling, low cloud blustery.

I dreamed that I had an awesome multi-level house with a beautiful garden...al landscaped with a mosaic swimming pool. All my friends from high school were visiting and then we had a thunder storm. One of my friends was terrified of the thunder. Mortally scared. I wish I had that house though....*drools*

We had dinner at cafe India last night. I Lurve Lamb Dhallcha. Their garlic nan is also awesome. Crispy and garlicky and dripping with butter. Pretty artery-hardening but delicious all the same.

I don't know why

but sometimes I get frightened. All those people voting for Bush. I guess they're scared and they want to back the winner...I don't understand it myself, but then I'm a Michael Moore devotee, so I wouldn't anyway.

On the whole I'm not thinking about it and I'm cheerful. I had my favourite class in today and they were nice and smiley and well behaved.

I found out this morning that I am going to be the leader for the reading program being piloted in February at my very library. Yay for me! I don't get any extra money but it's awesome experience and another feather in the CV. I'm really looking forward to that actually...kewl.

I had a lazy day yesterday, just sat on the couch after work and watched Circle of Friends (Still love it!) so my pedometer count was low for the day. However today is busy and I'm already up to 4915 steps. Plus going out tonight so that'll help the old footstep count.

Stuff and things. I did some writing last night, a story, longhand. Perhaps the start of something. I can't write with any distractions so I went into the bedroom and sat up with all the pillows on the bed. I wrote about 5 pages longhand before Lee decided he was tired and came to bed. He didn't actually do anything distracting but his presence was new and different and I didn't write any more.

Perhaps tonight?

Durnit

So REM are coming to NZ next year. Guess where they're performing?

Christchurch and New Plymouth. New Plymouth? Why?

So...tickets are $83 or $127 and that's all standing....no alcohol or deck chairs allowed at the New Plymouth one, which is a pain because my deck chair is a huge REM fan and will be mucho bummed when I break the news. I guess we could go to Chch, but my deck chair is scared of planes.

Will have to talk to Lee about the options. Both options kinda suck like...we'd have to pay for accomodation in New Plymouth but we'd have to pay to fly to Chch (I have family we can stay with, plus a Phreq who may still be down there at that point...). Also tickets are really expensive in the first place, but I do really want to see them.

Walkies

Yesterday I walked 7090 steps. Which is apparently equal to 4.254 km with my stride length and burned 109.6 Kcal. That's with wearing it from when I got dressed in the morning to when I got into bed to go to sleep.

Activities for the day were: work and quiz night.

Kewl. My pedometer is awesome. I get the feeling it will be blogged about a lot.

Thingummie

Hmmm.

I saw Chelle and Jase driving home last night. Haha! You think you can go through Ngaio and evade me?

Ahem. Then after I got home and convinced Lee to cook dinner Janjo came over to collect her box of clock and her bag of clothes, and ended up staying to chat and watch a movie with us and mucho strongbad. She is now educated in the ways of the Teen Girl Squad et al.

Giffy also dropped by to collect a cd full of photos for Tia, plus a card. Then she left both of them behind but took a Terry Pratchett book, coke and the graphic novels of Svend's that I still had. Bad Jenni didn't even read Top Ten. I think the cover art put me off or something, I didn't like the look of the dog guy.
If I'm lucky my Amazing Maurice and His Educated Rodents will come back signed.

Other news? Not so much. lookit my livejournal for memes and a picture. (But you can only see the picture if you're my *friend*.)

Dolly update

Oh yeah, for those on tenterhooks about my possible Bratz doll purchase...I did it. I bought Tokyo-a-Go-Go Cloe and I love her and she's awesome.

Muggledepuggle made her a new skirt and top and a top for my boy doll too. Hooray!

It's just too cool to have a Fruits type Bratz doll.

Step counter update: 2954. About 25 of those are me walking up and down and checking the numbers to see if it's accurate. It is.

Pre-diabetes experiment

I have walked 2290 steps since 11.30am today. I know this because of my shiny new pedometer. It's cool.

I got it free because I'm participating in a month long diabetes experiment thingy. I will write down my steps for everyday and hopefully become more actuve and stuff. They also gave me recipes and advice on how to avoid diabetes. Sometime in the month I will undergo a blood test to check for pre-diabetes.

It's all neaty.

Today is hot and sunny and summertastic. I am happy! Work is very very busy and I want icecream. I have yoghurt, it will have to do.
