I heard about this on the radio this morning and I'm really pleased.
My brother in law is a teacher and he wasn't allowed to touch his class *at all* previously, and had to have a serious talk about what would happen while he spotted from them during gymnastics ("If you come flying off the tramp, I'm going to catch you, but I can't be sure where my hands will go, since I'll be concentrating on catching you.")
This way, at least if a kid breaks their leg in the playground and he's on duty, he can do something about it, not wait for a female teacher to arrive.
Hopefully this will encourage more men to teach? I hope so.
