The specialist today said that the only thing that h reacted to that we have to worry about is the egg. And to give up peanuts. So we get to keep the pets, and I can keep eating sandwiches and porridge. No cake or biscuits for me though, no omlette, or frittata, or poached eggs, or quiche, or ... Its quite amazing how many things have eggs in them as the main ingredient or as an ingredient. But I'm quite relieved as I can't be bothered with formula, it takes more organisation than just remembering to drink a lot. I've never forgotten my boobs!, they go where I go.
BUT, if we successfully remove egg from my diet for the next six months, and if we don't give h any egg, which is what the specialist is recommending we do, then if he accidentally or deliberately got some egg later on he may go into anaphylactic shock. Some people die when they do that, and he could too. So if we want to test him later when he is about four to see if he still has the allergy, we need to go and do it in the hospital, in case he reacts Very Badly. He might grow out of it, and he might not, but finding out has to be done very carefully. So we are about to become an eggless household. We have one egg left, and then no more. Because if we don't have any around, it is going to be a lot easier to police!
If there is no egg round we may not have to keep treating his skin with steroids. That's going to be good. Going to other kids birthday parties is going to be tricky. Oh well, there's worse things
