mysterious disappearances - IE6 bug?

(Also, unconnectedly, isn't it about time for another Stonesoup coffee gathering?)

Right, firstly, the bold / italic / underline / URL shortcut buttons disappear with Mozilla. Any way of getting them back?

Secondly… the weird disappearing text thing going on in Iona’s blog… it only seems to happen with Internet Explorer - I *think.* And only with the Chinashop.

Anyway these are the problems I have been having (and it sounds like Reb and Richard have something similar). The whole of the page doesn’t load, it gets cut off after about one and a half screens. A refresh usually fixes this. Bits of the text are invisible, and can only be seen when selected. I *think* this might only happen in posts with horizontal dividers. And lastly, when I open the comments window the comments are invisible until I scroll down and then back up.

Anyway, this is what I’ve found;

invisible text

scrolling bug

display problems

Floating divs bug

If Reb and Richard use IE, then that's probably the problem. Hopefully some of this is useful...

I'll have a play with the CSS tomorrow, and stop using horizontal rules (pout).

Someone told me she sometimes reads chinashop by viewing the source code because it's easier! Eeep!

Ouch.

But that's also a huge compliment, that someone will want to read it enough to read the source code - I mean, if your blog was only half way decent people just wouldn't bother.

hmm. I think the mozilla issue you are talking about is because MT's editor implements some IE only code. I never got in the habit of using those buttons (cuz I've always used mozilla).

as for the other stuff... have fun with the style sheets. I suppose at some time I should make the effort to figure out what does what.

For the editing controls in Mozilla, see http://www.deftone.com/blogzilla/archives/rich_text_editing_in_movable_type.html

But the whole concept of rich text editing in HTML is bad and wrong, just so you know.

oh shush.

I only just noticed the buttons a couple of weeks ago, and I was like, ooooh nifty... cos they're faster. And stuff.
